That recognition deepened in December 2023, when Dr Nyakang’o was conferred with the Award of Fellowship of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (FCPA). In announcing the award, the Office of the Controller of Budget linked the honour to her leadership in public finance, her role in publishing quarterly budget execution reports, and her consistent advocacy for prudent expenditure and sound public finance management.

Her official professional profile itself carries the distinction FCPA Dr. Margaret N. Nyakang’o, CBS, bringing together both state honour and professional fellowship in a way that reflects the rare convergence of constitutional office, national service and professional esteem.

These honours sit alongside an academic record that has strengthened her authority in public life. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool, in addition to an MBA in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Nairobi.

Taken together, these distinctions reveal a career recognised not for symbolism, but for substance — a record in which national honour, professional fellowship and academic accomplishment all reinforce the same enduring reputation: one of integrity, excellence and serious service to the Republic.
